However, despite the financial influx, the country continues to face significant hurdles in developing cutting-edge military technologies, according to a recent analysis.
A report from Business Insider highlights that while Moscow has increased its military budget to sustain operations in Ukraine and modernize its arsenal, progress in advanced systems—such as next-generation drones, AI-driven weaponry, and high-precision missiles—remains sluggish. Experts attribute this gap to Western sanctions, brain drain, and structural inefficiencies in Russia’s defense industry.
Additional insights from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) corroborate these findings, noting that Russia’s reliance on Soviet-era designs and limited access to critical microelectronics has stifled innovation.
